In 2009, after a couple of bachelor’s degrees were earned, a baby was born, and the job market was in the toilet, Andy and I began an adventure into the world of wedding photography. We didn’t have any experience in wedding photography, aside from snapping some weddings in passing while studying in Spain, and photographing bits of Andy’s brother’s wedding. That was it.
But what we did have was the know-how (we took classes in photography, learned to develop and print our own images in a REAL darkroom) and experience in composition, as well as customer service… so with a little nudging from family and friends, Normand Ashley Photography was born.
Sometimes I look back and can’t believe it even happened. But here we are.
This post is really about the last 365 , oops, 367 days. Because 367 Days ago, I officially moved from the old website to this one, and set off on an adventure to be my own boss. No longer working for anyone else. I left my secure position working as a Special Education Teacher, and with my head held high, went for it.
My dreams.
And guess what.
I caught them.

Oh, hi.
Photographer. Professional hype girl. Occasional bad influence. I've spent the last 15 years photographing women and proving that being “photogenic” has a whole lot less to do with you, and a whole lot more to do with who's behind the camera.
I can’t begin to tell you how inspiring this blog is. I am only in my second year and you have been so kind and gracious this year to me. I can’t wait to be my own boss and I am so lucky to have you be part of my journey. Keep up the great work for showing us what we can do if we just put our minds to it!!
Congratulations! So happy you dreams are coming to fruition! I’m sure hardwork was a big factor!
XD What!! What!! I want to say something cheesy like “Nice Catch”, But I love it. I hope someday I will be able to step out and do full time photography <3 Does your husband second shoot for you?
Congrats on chasing, and catching, your dreams. It is amazing when we are the path that is best for us. Keeping dreaming bigger!
