If your engagement band is white gold, this post is for you.
What is white gold anyway?
Typically, white gold is made up of 75% yellow gold, and 25% other metals (like copper and zinc) and then dipped in rhodium to give it that beautiful clean finish we know as “white gold”.
So if the ring has already been dipped in rhodium, why worry about it again?
When I first got engaged, my ring was pristine. But after about 6-months, I noticed the brilliant finish begin to yellow. By the time Andy and I picked out our wedding bands, it was obvious that the two rings were different in color.
In the past, I have noticed this at weddings, and so I began telling all of my brides to dip their rings.
On your wedding day, you will want the two rings to match. If you plan to have them photographed (which I know you do!) schedule to have your engagement ring re-dipped about 2-3 weeks before the wedding. You will need to drop it off for a few days with your jeweler to have it dipped, it will run you around $100- BUT, I guarantee you will LOVE the result.

It sounds cliche, but 10 years from now, you'll look back at photos of you from now and tell yourself how beautiful you were. How wonderful would it be to see yourself and appreciate yourself as you are TODAY, right now?
Great advice! Clearly the advice of a seasoned photographer 😉
I had NEVER thought of this! I’m sure other brides have never thought of having to dip your white gold engagement rings either! Great post Michele =]
Great tip for the wedding planning process that a lot of people typically overlook. :)!
I have never heard of this! I am definitely going to be suggesting this to my brides with white gold rings! Thank you for the tip!
Great advice, Michele! I would never have thought to have a white gold ring redipped before the wedding either!
