The importance of Printing

Moments are fleeting, and your photographer will tell you how important is to to print your photos. Holding a photograph in your hand is an incredible feeling. I am very fortunate to have had a great-grandfather who was a photographer and printer. There are so many moments that we have in old shoeboxes, just waiting to be held and looked at. A story within an image.

Now that most photography is digital, it’s even more important to print out your photos. To hold a photograph, and store it in a place where future generations can uncover it. To build a legacy. To recall the past. Because when you think about it, as soon as the photo is taken, the moment is in the past.

I love coming across old family photographs. It’s exciting to see the past, how things have changed, and to imagine the moments unfolding.

My mom’s parents are gone now, but I am grateful for the legacy my grandparents left behind.

I am grateful for the photographs they left behind for me to find.

Here’s one of my favorites.

So incredibly true! My grandparents have boxes and boxes of Polaroids, and traditional prints. While the quantity of the boxes are overwhelming, it’s comforting to be able to sift through them all.

    PRINTS ARE MY FAVORITE! <3

  3. I literally have boxes of photographs! Before digital I don’t even want to know how much I spent on developing film. But today I wish I did it more! I still need to print our 10th Anniversary pictures! Ugh I’m a slacker…thanks for the reminder. 😉

  4. Emily says:

Oh so true. i made it a point to get every print from my wedding, engagements, and bridals. Shelf space is so worth it.

  5. I couldn’t agree MORE!!!! It’s sad that kids these days have their baby photos on iPhones instead of piles of photos in shoe boxes… PLEASE PRINT! XOXO

  6. Nikki Trent says:

You are so right! I need to practice what I preach, too!

  7. I agree… I just did an heirloom of my husband’s pictures so they would get out of the shoe box and I was in awe of seeing what his life was like when he was little.

    Priting is so important!

  9. 100% true!!!! I love finding old photographs, and with the way things are today I doubt my kids will ever have that feeling 🙁
